Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a unit take?

A unit will be 'live' for 3 months. During those 3 months we expect that learners will spend 4-6 hours a week studying and preparing their assignments.

Do I need to do all the units?

You can choose to do the units in the order that you like and in your own time. For example, if you already have some knowledge in Biodynamics, you don't have to start with 'Introduction to Biodynamics'. However if you want to be accredited in the end you will need to complete all the mandatory units. If accreditation is not important to you, you can pick and choose to do the units that interest you.

What are the Mandatory Units?

At the moment all the units apart from the 'Urban Agriculture' and 'Community Supported Agriculture' are mandatory. That means that there are 9 Mandatory Units. To complete the diploma you will need to choose units and choose one of the units above as optional.

Can I begin a units whenever I want to or is there a start day and an end day?

Each unit has a specific time slot when it is active. That means that on the website that unit will be accessible, the tutor will be available to answer questions, run online seminars and more. The unit will begin at a certain time and end three months later. As the programme developes there will be more than one unit available at each time slot and there will be more choice of units.

Do I need to a Farm or Garden to do the course?

You can do the course and learn about boidynamics without having a farm or garden. However, some of the assignments require that you have a piece of land or work on a farm or garden. If you don't have a piece of land you work on, you can still do the course but you will not be bale to complete the assignments and will not recieve a certificate at the end.

How much will the whole course cost?

Each unit costs £365. If you do all 11 units it will cost £4015

I'm on limited income is there opportunity to pay by instalements?

Each unit is £365 and paid for individually. Each year, You can do as many units as you can afford and have time to. In that way you can spread the cost.

Is my garden suitable?

We ask that participants have a garden or farm because some of the units require observation of nature and practical application of Biodynamic principles on a working holding. It also depends if you want the accredited certificate at the end. If so, then a vegetable garden or farm will be essential. If not, then you are free to do the unit even without a garden at all. If you are still not sure please contact us with a description of the garden.

What is the workload, say per week?

We estimated that the work load per week will be about 4 hours. Each unit will take about 48hours which is 4 hours per week over 12 weeks.

Will there be assignments?

Yes, at the end of each unit there will ba a main assignment. This can be a report on a project, an essay or a workbook. You will be required to complete all the assignments on time to receive the accredited diploma at the end of the course.
